License
The photographs and the texts on this site are free to reuse, including commercially, as long as you credit the source. They are published under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0.
What you can do
Copy them, print them, put them in a book, a thesis, a newspaper, a video or a website. Crop them, adapt them, translate them. You do not need to ask us first.
How to credit
Every painting page carries a ready-made credit line. It reads like this:
Chico da Silva, “Cockfight” (1983). Photo: Eric Keki, João Cunha Collection. CC BY 4.0. https://chicodasilva.org/id/jcc-030
Use the permanent link, the one with /id/, rather than the address in your
browser bar. It survives any future change to the page.
What this does not cover
The press clippings reproduced in the articles belong to the newspapers and magazines that published them. They appear here as historical sources, and we cannot license them to you. For those, talk to the publication.
Higher resolution, or anything else
The site serves images up to 3200 pixels on the long edge. If you need the full-resolution file, or want to discuss a loan, an exhibition or a print run, write to inquiries@chicodasilva.org.
