Description for blind and low-vision visitors

A tall vertical painting of three figures gathered close together behind a bowl of fruit. The ground behind them is brushed in vertical stripes of dusty pink, slate blue and wine red, like weathered boards; two broad arched shapes in flat crimson, outlined in white, rise across the upper part like windows or an awning. At the centre a figure with an ochre face, heavy-lidded eyes and short black curls wears an olive-green shirt with an open collar, one long arm reaching down across the group. To the left, half hidden by that arm, a second figure is seen in profile, pale-skinned with the same dark curls, in a pale blue dress with a zigzag hem. At the right a third figure sits with bare shoulders and long straight dark hair cut in a fringe, knees drawn up, her body modelled in pink and white. In front of her, round green fruits are stacked one above another, the topmost crowned by a wide fan of long leaves in green and yellow. At the bottom of the canvas a pale blue basin holds four large cashew fruits in orange and yellow, each with its grey kidney-shaped nut at the end. Bare legs in pink and white fall to either side of the basin, and a yellow bench shows at the lower right.
