Description for blind and low-vision visitors

On a black background, two roosters face one another in a cockfight, their forms nearly mirrored. Each has a small crested head with a single bold eye and a curved beak, and spreads sweeping fan-like tails and wings in vivid orange, red, yellow, blue and purple feathered strokes. Thin green palm-like fronds rise vertically between and beside the birds. The naïve, highly decorative style fills the panel densely, with a year and signature near the lower centre.

The signature

Detail of the painted signature: «FOZILVA»
The canvas is signed “FOZILVA”, at the center of the lower edge. The D and the S are reversed, so it reads as the artist's usual signature, “F. D. Silva”. Beside it sits the painter's thumbprint.
