Description for blind and low-vision visitors

A horizontal naïve painting on a bright yellow ground encircled by concentric rippling pastel lines. A large bird with a long curving blue neck and red beak bends down toward a small red-and-green bird lying at the lower right. The big bird's rounded body has an upper band patterned with rows of orange fish-like shapes over swirls, and a lower band of streaked green and teal plumage, ending in a dark fringed tail at the left. Reds, blues, greens and yellow dominate. A signature and date appear at the lower center.

The signature

Detail of the painted signature: «FOZILVA»
The canvas is signed “FOZILVA”, in the lower left corner. The D and the S are reversed, so it reads as the artist's usual signature, “F. D. Silva”. Beside it sits the painter's thumbprint.
