Description for blind and low-vision visitors

Two roosters confront each other at center against a black background, bodies tilted forward with raised crests and open beaks. Their feathers are drawn as fine parallel stripes and scalloped rows in orange, blue, purple, red and white, with peacock-like eye spots on the left bird's wing. Spiky green palm-like fronds spread out behind them and a small branching sprig rises in the middle. The naive style fills the surface with tight linear detail; a white stylized signature 'F.D.SILVA' and a date appear at the lower center.

The signature

Detail of the painted signature: «FDZILVA»
The canvas is signed “FDZILVA”, at the center of the lower edge. The S is reversed, so it reads as the artist's usual signature, “F. D. Silva”. Beside it sits the painter's thumbprint.
